Statistical surveying teams are being lined up for a National ID CARDs information collection exercise to cover the whole country next month in August.

The survey is very likely to be eagerly awaited once word goes out that the teams will also be handing out $50 cash for each person officially recorded per family.

The cash is part of the Government second stimulus package in response to the economic impacts from the COVID -19 pandemic.

Government Statistician, Ali’imuamua Ms. Malaefono Taua, confirmed a set time period of 6 weeks to complete the double exercise.

“More than 400 staff workers are divided into 20 teams for the survey with 15 assigned to work within the more populated Upolu Island and 5 for Savai’i,” Ali’imuamua confirmed.

“Teams will hand out $50 for each family member from babies up to the eldest on the same day a family is surveyed” added the Government Statistician.

Ali’imuamua anticipates that 89 per cent of the coverage will be done after the first 4 weeks of the survey and monetary distribution.

The emphasis on the National ID Cards will make it easier all around to deal with matters of education, health, financial, travel and more.
