Vaisigano Bridge closed for the finishing as streaming traffic diverted to upriver crossings at Leone, Loto Samasoni and Lelata bridges.
Upriver crossings at Leone, Loto Samasoni and Lelata bridges are carrying the full weight of traffic to and from the east coast of Apia.
Long lines of streaming traffic at peak hours before and after work in the mornings and evenings are now a regular scene at these locations.
The Leone Bridge appears to be the favourite crossings as the first one up from the main cross at the Vaisigano Bridge.
Traffic streams at the Maluafou intersection are taking the shortcut past the Vodafone head office to link up to the Moto’otua Rd.
The options of turning right ends up with the inside road behind the Police and Emergency Services straight into the heart of the Apia.
Motorists may want to continue up to the Beach Road and moving along into the centre of town.
The Loto Samasoni Bridge makes the crossing quicker for traffic stream into or out of the Malifa road that connects to the Leifiifi intersection and onwards to Lalovaea and up to the Taufusi intersection.
The Lelata Bridge is the preferred choice for travellers to the National University and Samoa College Vaivase.
Construction of the Vaisigano Bridge is going through its finishing touches in preparations for the long awaited official opening in a few weeks time.
Construction has been underway since 2018 and was timed for completion this year.
