Samoa has been ranked the fourth-strongest passport in the Pacific, behind New Zealand, Australia and Solomon Islands, according to PassportReports.com’s 2026 global passport ranking.
Samoa ranks 67th globally, with a Mobility Score of 129, placing it ahead of Tuvalu at 70th and Kiribati at 71st.
New Zealand ranks 27th globally, Australia 29th and Solomon Islands 59th, making Solomon Islands the highest-ranked Pacific island country after the two trans-Tasman nations.
According to PassportReports.com, Samoa’s Mobility Score of 129 represents access to 129 destinations through visa-free entry, visa-on-arrival or electronic travel authorisation arrangements.
The score comprises 82 visa-free destinations, 41 destinations offering visa-on-arrival or other facilitated entry arrangements, and six requiring an electronic travel authorisation (eTA).
Samoan passport holders require a visa before travel for a further 69 destinations.
Samoa’s strongest access is in Europe, where 40 of the 47 destinations covered by the report are listed as visa-free.
Oceania is the next strongest region, with four visa-free destinations and seven offering visa-on-arrival or other facilitated arrangements.
The Caribbean also provides broad access, while travel access is more restricted in Asia and the Middle East.
Among major destinations, the United States requires a visa for Samoan passport holders, while the United Kingdom and Canada require an eTA. The Schengen Area is listed as visa-free.
Samoa’s 67th-place ranking represents a decline from 61st in 2025, when its Mobility Score was 132.
PassportReports.com’s data shows Samoa has nevertheless remained among the stronger passports in the Pacific, ranking ahead of Tuvalu, Kiribati and other island nations in the 2026 global table.
The website says its Mobility Score measures the total number of destinations that can be entered visa-free, with a visa on arrival or with an electronic travel authorisation.
