As the nation continues to read and understand the 197-page court ruling on the case of the perversion of justice against Prime Minister La’auli and his fellow defendants, the key question remains; who murdered NUS Student Tuau Faasavalu?

Who is Tuau and why would anyone want to kill this young man?

What did he do wrong?

We now know that Tuau attended a Faatuatua I le Atua Samoa ua Tasi Party celebration in 2021 and that he loved to take photos and post them on his Facebook page for the world to see.

It was his hobby.

That evening he took photos of FAST MPs, both male and female, who were celebrating.

Some of the photos may not have portrayed FAST leaders positively.

Did someone take issue with the photos Tuau took?

For whatever reason, it cost him his life.

He was reportedly found dead on the road side near the Mormon chapel at Vaitele, right next to the Maota o Samoa’s FAST Headquarters.

Former FAST Party Prime Minister Fiame is now suing Laauli in relation to the deaths of Professor Gabbard and Tuau.

For Samoans, La’auli’s involvement in these cases, as Prime Minister and Minister of Police fuels the perception of conflict of interest and serves to undermine the rule of law.

The case of Tuau will not be closed until his murderer is identified.

His death was thrust upon the attention of the nation.

We must now deliver him the justice he deserves.
