With the stop-start re-scheduling of flights by our Samoa Airways, chances are it’ll be Xmas before it flies to Savai’i.
But as long as the intention is there to fly at least there’s hope. What else can they do when people prefer to take the boat?
This blasted COVID-19 is keeping our carrier grounded basically. Yes we don’t have a bigger aircraft to fly further than Savai’i but we don’t need it…for now anyway.
Nobody wants to fly …well they do but the borders are closed everywhere not just us.
By the way did you see how much it costs to charter that Air NZ aircraft to fly home our students and other Samoans stranded in Australia – close to a quarter million tala.
Thank goodness our student sponsors are paying the tickets for them. Other passengers pay their own fares as well so our taxes are spared for now anyway.
There are still the quarantine costs and that’s coming out of our tax pockets.
If you’re thinking of buying your own aircraft, this maybe a good time. Our Samoa Air may have a twin-otter or two for sale unless they leased it from somewhere.
