More than 10 thousand taxis in the fleet serving the national public transport needs are brushing up for the first registration and licensing period of the year 2021.
Owners of taxis and taxi company stands caught up during the week with the traffic division of the Ministry of Police to go over any points that needed to be raised ahead of the scheduled work .
“These are normal consultations started when the work was done under the Lands and Transport Authority, to prepare the service and remind them of their responsibilities for public safety,” head of the traffic division, Tauiliili Leo Bartley, explained.
Other then to remind all involved in the taxi service to have all their legal documents in order, it was also to go over what is allowed and not allowed inside the vehicle.
“ Things like sunscreens, flickering lights decorations and car speakers are brought up as reminders.
“ Care of the car and the comfort of passengers are encouraged as in the use of air fresheners.”
Tauiliili is confident that taxi stands have standard rules for maintaining healthy standards and is grateful for their support to ensure a better service.
