OFFICIAL OPENING : PacNOG Training at Samoa Vodafone Head Office, Apia.

Participants from 15 countries started a skills training and exchange of ideas in Apia this morning for future improvements on the internet system.
The regional conference and training programme, PacNOG, is behind the weeklong exercise at the Vodafone Samoa Head Office Training Centre.
Participants will go over the internet fundamentals, network routing, management and monitoring including best practices for Domain Name System and Linux.
Hands on training designed for practical applications are a key focus for the participants learning and sharing experience as well.
The Ministry of Communication Information Technology, CEO, Lefaoali’i Ms. Unatoa Auelua urged the participants to take full advantage of the training.
“It is not just to learn and share knowledge on the skills of internet but to ensure a connection to a reliable Internet infrastructure,” Lefaoali’i encouraged.
“The challenges of being a remote and isolated location relates directly to our region and it’s important that the service not only reaches the destination but it is secure, reliable and longterm,” she added.
Lefaoali’i entreated that as professionals the road ahead needs creativity and leadership.
This is the 34th PacNOG conference and training programme in over 20 yers of building specialised skill levels for network engineers in the region.
PacNOG’s role is to encourage the region’s capability to manage and secure essential internet infrastructure.
