….. many would probably wonder where this closed steel door of iron bars is. You would know if you have been to the Mulinu’u Court House Building.
This is on the ground floor of the two-storey building where police escort offenders for transport to the Tanumalala Prison after court convictions.
This is where convicted offenders family members; usually parents or wives and children, are forced to stand outside looking on helplessly as their loved ones are driven off to serve out prison terms.
The scene is a heartbreaking one at times as family members try to reach between the bars for a final touch before the prison vehicle backs out and drives off.
The next time they will get to meet up again is on a prison visit usually at the weekends.
