PM Fiame with  the visiting members of the Global Women New Zealand-Breakthrough Leaders Programme 2024.

A group of New Zealand women are in Samoa soaking up a better understanding of the national economy as well as the social and political environment.

The 23 member group represents the Global Women New Zealand-Breakthrough Leaders Programme 2024.

The Central Bank of Samoa  hosted the visitors in a function that made it possible to pass along the necessary knowledge and understanding behind the visit. 

Acting Governor of the Central Bank of Samoa, Sili Margaret Tafunai, presented an update on Samoa’s economy and shared insights of the future outlook.

She expanded on social issues, leadership challenges and opportunities as well as economic issues faced by small island countries.  

The Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mataafa, joined the visitors in discussion and provided them with an account of her political and leadership journey.

The Samoan leader acknowledged the organization’s drive and vision and wished the program success in its future undertakings.

The Global Women New Zealand – Breakthrough Leaders Program is made up of a diverse group of New Zealand female leaders in their respective areas of work and use this platform and program as further advocacy for female leadership.  

This year’s programme group included several ladies with Samoan and Tongan ethnicity, with leadership roles in New Zealand’s educational, accountancy, finance, energy, communications, military and business sectors, to name a few.
