The Naseri and Associate Medical Clinic is set to open today officially at the Methodist Building, Matafele.
The new medical clinic is located on the ground floor of the two-storey building that once housed the Samoa Commercial Bank before they moved.
The former Director General of Health, Leausa Dr. Take Naseri, is the force behind the new private medical service.
The clinic opening will shift to the Elisa Hotel for an official reception in order to accommodate the invited guests.
After close to 10 years of running the Health Ministry as one of the key focuses on national developments for Samoa, Leausa made the decision to move on rather than seek a new contract renewal.
The measles epidemic of September 2019 and the COVID 19 pandemic were the most notable challenges for Leausa while at the head of the Ministry,
Together with his medical team and advise to Government, international travel borders for Samoa were closed off at the outbreak of the pandemic.
For the next two years since 2020 the country became only a few in the world to remain free of the feared pandemic virus taking lives around the world.
The Samoan community remained virus free until March this year 2022 when the first community case was recorded.
Since then, close to 30 people have died from COVID 19 related health complications mostly the elderly from 60 years upwards.
