No official confirmation has come through yet from the Ministry of Health on unofficial reports of the first COVID 19 death in Samoa this week.
Newsline Samoa health sources did confirm the Ministry putting together an official statement to be released through the normal channels of Government communications.
It is not known when the statement will be made but the normal channels are through the disaster emergency committee NEOC who will in turn advise the Government, before any information is made public.
To be officially verified is the death of a man reportedly in his 60s from the Lalomanu Health Centre at the Aleipata District in Upolu.
It remains to be confirmed also if the deceased did have any underlying health complications and that he passed away yesterday, Wednesday 30 March 2022.
As of yesterday, Wednesday 30Match 2022, the daily count of confirmed carriers of the COVID 19 virus stands at 1665 in only 14 days or two weeks since the first person tested positive.
The pandemic virus breached the local health security defence when a woman tested positive on 17 March 2022 to become the first case to appear in the general community.
