A 45-year-old male was among the 3 new COVID 19 related deaths added in the Ministry of Health updated report of the last 48 hours from 26th – 28th April 2022.

Officially 19 people in Samoa have now died from related health complications of the pandemic virus.

All are above the 50 year old age group in their 60s, 70s and 80s.  A 77 year old and an 85 year old are among the new entries in the total death run to date.

There were 596 confirmed cases of the virus for the period and all were infected inside the community except one border case.

The total number of community cases is edging closer to the 10,000 count with the current run now at 9,592 including 73 confirmed COVID-19 cases at Port of Entry (POE).

It is not a surprise if the mark is reached in the next MOH 48 hour report.

In other COVID 19 related activities, new travel advice are now in place for travel from American Samoa with all travellers into the territory required to complete ten (10 days) of stay before they are allowed to travel on to Samoa.

A supervised negative rapid antigen test (RAT) on the day of travel is required with all new arrivals from Pago Pago to be quarantined for at least 10 days or as determined by MOH.

Only 40 people are allowed to travel into Apia in a week due to the limited quarantine sites and rooms available.
