The Electric Power Corporation, General Manager, Tologata Mr. Tile Tuimaleali’ifano, stepped closer to becoming a Member of Parliament on Tuesday, when he registered as an HRPP election candidate.
Tologata has long confirmed his wish to enter politics as a logical step to continue his service in his field of expertise for Samoa with electricity.
The EPC general manager is winding up a career closing in on 40 years with the national power authority this coming October 2020.
He has to win the Falelatai and Samatau Electoral Constituency ballot in next year’s 2021 general elections to fulfill his dream wish.
“The decision to run in the general elections took me a long time to make and I’m here today with leaders of the constituency to officially register with the HRPP party,” Tologata confirmed after signing up at the HRPP headquarters.
“I wanted to run in the last general elections of 2016 and I prayed for divine will but it was not to be.
“The calling is stronger this time and here I am with the support of our constituency leaders who wanted me to run under the banner of the Government party.”
Constituency incumbent, Taefu Lemi, stands as a major obstacle in Tologata’s election path along with other possible candidates yet to officially declare intentions.
Tologata is quick to acknowledge the service of his current serving rival to the constituency who is finishing up his second 5-year term in Parliament.
“Taefu has served the Constituency well and I have nothing bad to say about his contribution except that whoever wins it is the will of God.”
The needs and wishes of the electors will determine much of the issues for the winner as far as Tologata is concerned.
He intends to continue any left over projects for the constituency if he wins.
The 56-year-old Tologata was educated at the Falelatai Primary School and Avele College before he went off on overseas scholarship studies in 1986.
He started working with the EPC in 1987.
Why didn’t you add Tologata’s academic qualifications and his many achievements with EPC? Your article came short of that and if you can, please give him the credit that he rightly deserves. Ma lo’u faaaloalo lava.
