Now that the hype of International Women’s Day has settled back to normal levels, maybe we can safely hazard a sobering question.
Is it true or not that Samoan women are SACRED?
Rev. Dr. Latu Latai in his sermon on International Women’s Day last Friday says it is true.
The good Reverend argued our ancient forebears said so. He said it’s all there in the language they spoke.
“Women are the ‘covenants’ or ‘feagaiga’”, Rev. Latai clearly noted.
He said the message was in the old folks tone of respect and reverence in their usage of the language.
But he is puzzled that in this day and age we’re in the message is somehow forgotten.
If that is the case then maybe an urgent investigation is needed to learn where the message disappeared to.
With all the abuse and unfair treatment the women are complaining about, SACRED is far from what they are feeling.
The word should be SCARED. The message should read : Women In Samoa are SCARED.
“…..is it possible the old timers misplaced the letter ‘a’ before the letter ‘c’ to end up with the word SACRED instead of SCARED, dear?”
