Every year the World Cup comes around is always going to be a big one for the Manu Samoa – the pride of Samoa’s national sport rugby union.
The Year 2023 is one of those anticipated times with the World Cup challenge lined up for September-October in France.
The Samoa Rugby Union or Lakapi Samoa is the first to admit in its calendar of events for the next 12 months counting to the Manu Samoa ultimate challenge.
The Manu Samoa coaching team is making sure the national side is fully tuned up for the world stage by organizing warm up matches right up to the World Cup kick-off.
The major build up for the team starts in July in defence of the Pacific Nations Cups they won last year in Fiji.
There will be warm up matches as their final tune-up before the World Cup in France from 8 September to 28 October 2023 scheduled to take place in nine venues across the country.
The 2023 Rugby World Cup is scheduled to be the tenth men’s Rugby World Cup.
The Manu Samoa World Cup campaign is bound to be strongly inspired by the success of the Toa Samoa at the rival rugby code’s World Cup last year in England.
The Toa Samoa turned giant killers against England to highlight the team’s World Cup dream run and fired up days of celebrations at home.
The Toa o Samoa went all the way to the Cup final an achievement never before possible for any second tier league playing country.
History at the Rugby League World Cup was made when Samoa challenged the mutli-Cup Championship winner, Australia’s Kangaroos for the prized trophy.
The national team was unsuccessful in its historic bid for the Cup, but it did not stop the home fans from running up a Toa Samoa fever for days.
Lakapi Samoa have also lined up for the Manu Samoa 7s and the Under 20 lineup of international tournaments for the year.
The women’s Manu Sina in both the full 15-a-side and 7-a-side versions stepping up to the paddock for international competition in 2023.
