Peseta Emeline Tufi Folau-Dadae, being bestowed the Peseta chiefly title in a recent conferral ceremony in the big island Savai’i.
Staff Writer : The wife of the Governor General of Papua New Guinea (PNG) was bestowed the chiefly title Peseta by her family in Samoa, in a ceremony at the village of Pu’apu’a last week.
Emeline Tufi Folau –Dadae is Samoan and married to the current Governor General of PNG Sir Bob Bofeng Dadae.
The conferral ceremony for the titles Peseta and Lauvao was held at Fogaseuga, Pu’apu’a.
More than 30 family members were honoured with the Peseta title and two with the oratory title Lauvao.
The new title holders were descendants of Peseta Iiga Tiumalu and his sister Sinafatuimoa.
The sa’o or ranking chief of the family, Peseta Luteru Peseta Tauti Taofiga Seaali’imalietoa expressed gratitude and appreciation to Peseta Emeline for raising the profile for the family as a title holder.
This is recognition and confirmation of the importance of identity and family roots to Peseta Emeline the sa’o said.
The ceremony was attended by the traditional dignitary of Pu’apu’a village chiefs. Reverend Aperaamo Tufuga led the holy blessings on the title holders jointly with other church ministers in the village.
Peseta is also part Tongan and travelled to Samoa with an entourage of family members from the Kingdom who joined up with her security unit and a medical doctor from PNG..
Peseta Emeline married Sir Dadae in 11 January 2020, who was first appointed PNG Governor General in 2017 and for a second term in 2023.
