Media Release : The University of the South Pacific (USP) – Samoa Campus will host its Annual Open Day on 18 September 2025 at Alafua Campus, and on 25 September at the USP Centre in Salelologa Savaii, under the theme ‘Shaping Pacific Futures.’
The event is set to welcome around 1,000 senior college students and members of the public, giving them a firsthand glimpse of the exciting opportunities, vibrant campus life, and endless pathways that USP has to offer.
On hand to welcome all visitors will be the Samoa Campus Director- Tootoooleaava Dr. Fanaafi Aiono-Le Tagaloa, staff and students of Samoa Campus.
USP Open Days are pivotal moments that transcend brochures and websites. They provide senior college students and all prospective students the chance to engage with lecturers, current students, and alumni, while also experiencing the campus atmosphere firsthand.
These interactions allow them to explore courses aligned with their passions, discover career pathways, and gain the confidence to make informed choices about their higher education journey.
Families and members of the public are equally encouraged to attend and see how USP continues to shape graduates who are prepared to lead and serve the Pacific region.
This year’s keynote speaker will be the reigning Miss Pacific Islands and Miss Samoa, Litara Ieremia Allan, a teacher first and foremost, whose address is highly anticipated to inspire prospective students and guests with her insights on education, culture, and the power of one to shape one’s future.
As the only regional university jointly owned by 12 Pacific Island countries, USP serves as a vital hub of higher education, research, and innovation for the region.
Visitors will enjoy the richness of Pacific traditions through cultural performances from student associations during the Day.

They will also embark on a tour of 14 key destinations around campus, each showcasing different aspects of university life, ranging from student services and campus facilities to the academic programmes on offer virtually and via face-to-face by the University’s 6 Schools.
A standout feature of the Open Day is the Agriculture and Food Technology (AFT) display where students can see how learning here directly contributes to food security and sustainable development across the Pacific.
Visitors will witness displays of farm produce and livestock and gain an authentic glimpse of agricultural learning and research.
They will also have the rare opportunity to step into USP’s laboratories, where hands-on experiments will give them a taste of the exciting learning opportunities that await future students.
Other key highlights of Open Day include impromptu quizzes, games, and dance competitions for prizes—a favourite among students.
The day will also feature stalls from sponsors and food vendors, including cultural dishes prepared by student cultural groups which lends to a lively, festive atmosphere that marries learning with the warmth of Pacific hospitality.
All senior students, their families, and the wider community are warmly invited to join the celebration of learning and culture on 18 September at Alafua Campus, and 25 September at Savaii Centre, to discover how the USP can launch you toward your dream career!
All Open Day Activities commence at 9 am and will cease at 2 pm.
The invocation will be offered by Dr Viliame Savou—Senior Technician while the vote of thanks will be given by Dr Seve Folototo—Senior Lecturer in Accounting.
The Day’s emcee will be Mr Patrick Gordon, Chair of Open Day 2025.
