WELCOME THE SAMOAN WAY : Ava ceremony organised by the UN local staff to welcome UNDP Regional Director visiting Samoa this week.
The local UN staff is going through a busy schedule lately as hosts to several notable guests including the Regional Director Ms Kanni Wignaraja visit to Samoa this week.
The US based head of the UN in the Asia Pacific region received a cultural welcome with the traditional Ava Ceremony by the local staff.
While in Apia, Ms Wignaraja, will hold talks on the regional economy and gender balance with the head of the National University of Samoa and go on to co-sign an MOU between the UNDP and NUS.
The Regional Director’ visit follows closely behind the new UNDP Resident Representative for the Island region, taking up her official duties for Samoa, Niue, Cook Islands and Tokelau.
