United Kingdom marathon runners, Nick Flannery and Khalid Cox are the winners of the 7th Savai’i International marathon today, Saturday 13 July 2024.
Nicky Flannery of Ireland smashed the men’s record by a whopping 40 mins.
His time of 3h 14min is the new record for the marathon on Savai’i.
Khalida Cox was the first woman home in the marathon in a time of 4h 51m.
Khalida represents the Muddy Runners club in Handover, Hampshire.
She was apprehensive about today’s race particularly the heat. In the end, conditions were prefect with a much cooler morning temperature than usual.
Ivan Polyntcev the swimmer has a new lot of fans with the Itū o Tane College runners.
As well as swimming to Savai’i on Monday, Ivan ran the 10 km distance and finished first in 1h 08mins.
A great event with a mixture of local runners and international visitors.
