BSP Samoa| : Over 200 volunteers joined forces with BSP last Saturday 18th November, 2023, to ‘green up’ Apia during BSP’s 8th Annual Go Green Cleanup campaign.
An annual event that brought together the community to promote environmental stewardship, Saturday’s event marked another successful year for BSP’s ‘Go Green Clean Up’ initiative – one that aims to raise awareness on our environment by keeping it plastic- free.
A team of dedicated staff, over 200 volunteers and a coalition of valued organizations, actively participating in the cleanup efforts throughout Apia Town.
BSP Samoa Head of Corporate Jone Vuli expressed immense gratitude, stating BSP Team was immensely proud to witness the incredible turnout and dedication of volunteers from various sectors in Apia.
“BSP is deeply committed to fostering sustainability and environmental awareness, and the overwhelming support from our partners and volunteers reaffirmed the importance of this mission. The collaborative cleanup efforts were not only a testament to the community’s dedication but also served as a beacon of hope for a cleaner and greener future for Samoa,” Mr Vuli said.
The focus of the day was to rid the streets of Apia and public spaces of harmful plastics and promote a more sustainable way of life. The weather favored the community-driven initiative as teams commenced their designated cleanup zones promptly at 6:00am, persisting with unwavering dedication until 8am.
The combined efforts of these volunteers displayed an admirable commitment to preserving Samoa’s natural beauty.
Following the intensive clean up, BSP extended a heartfelt appreciation to all volunteers by hosting a breakfast event for their unwavering support. This gesture exemplified BSP’s ethos of valuing and recognizing the collective efforts towards fostering sustainability within the community.
