The Minister of Women and Social Developments, Tuitama Dr. Talalelei Tuitama, ended his farewell address in Parliament today, Monday 22 Feb. 2021, proud of Government’s achievements.

The A’ana Alofi No.2 Parliamentarian closed out his last time on the floor, by going over a range of new and amended policies that are working well under his Ministry for Women and Village Developments.

Tuitama is retiring on a high note as a Cabinet Member serving back-to-back 5 year terms firstly as Minister of Health.

He began his political career in 2001 as MP for Va’a-O-Fonoti before a successful election transition in 2011 to the A’ana Alofi No.2 seat.

His hold on office for the last 10 consecutive years ends when the current Parliament is dissolved in a few weeks’ times.

“Thank you for your support in the last 10 years of my tenure in office,” he acknowledged with gratitude the trust of his electorate.

Tuitama also called for his voters to keep the trust in the Government.

“ Support the proven leadership of the HRPP [Human Rights Protection Party] that has brought prosperity and international respect and recognition for Samoa,” he persuaded.

The Minister paid tribute to the support of his wife who was watching from the gallery with some of his children.

He extended his appreciation to his children living outside of Samoa including his large family members at home and abroad.

Tuitama is one of four veteran MPs closing the door on long, distinguished political careers.

The others are the Speaker Toleafoa Fa’afisi, Associate Minister Fa’aso’otauloa Pati Taulapapa and opposition stalwart Aeau Peniamina.
