If any Ministry Chief Executive Officer or senior public servant should lose their jobs or at risk of doing so the blame is on a ‘hypocritical government’.

The former Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi made that clear after learning of several top public servants who maybe targetted for a cleanout by the new Government.                                                                                                                                                                           “At a recent prayer meeting with public servants Fiame said her government wants to work together with the public servants,” Tuilaepa said.

“But now they are following through with their campaign promises of sacking senior officials like Electoral Commissioner Faimalomatumua Mathew Lemisio, the CEO of Women and Community Development in Afamasaga Fa’auiga Mulitalo and the Attorney General,” he said.

Tuilaepa asked what reason these officials are being terminated for.

“That is hypocritical and not becoming of a new government”.

Speculations are high after the Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa wrote to the Attorney General to demand an explanation at why she took no steps in the defence of the Judiciary against sustained attack by the HRPP leader. (see other story)

PM Fiame has come under general scrutiny at the same time after assuring public servants in a recent address that their jobs are safe.

‘You are appointed for your skills and Government needs your expertise, ” Fiame told the staff working under her ministerial portfolios during a recent prayer meeting.

“Our role as Government is in making policies based on your recommendations and support.”

PM went on to assure that ‘public servants remain while government changes’ but counseled against allowing  political loyalties to affect the work.

Several Cabinet Ministers have been meeting up with staff in their respective portfolios last week, mostly in organised prayer gatherings, as they settle into their ministerial responsibilities.

A strong sense of public anticipation remains at the fate of several CEOs on the ‘boot out’ list the new Government promised once they are in power.
