OPINION : I am a proud Samoan this week. I saw a lot of sons and daughters of Samoa graduating left and right from the top universities of the world.
I see some being celebrated as they take up top roles in many organisations globally.
I see others heading a city, becoming law makers in many countries.
I see the ROCK and am thankful for the world stage he occupies promoting Samoa every day, and I see some taking our cultural values and artwork to many many foreign places, embedding Samoa’s influence and contribution to the world.
I see Samoans worrying about the newly passed legislations and how they might affect our Independence etc, and they should be, o a tatou measina tatou te tausi i ai -and especially believing that they may take away our lands our fa’asinomaga-I truly believe we will not let that happen. Aua lava le ula ia Samoa.
For me-what it reminded me was Samoa’s right to change and create what could be a better option for our country as a whole.
It may be the right one, and it may be the wrong one- BUT what I was and am very happy and proud of –is our RIGHT to make the changes.
E pule a tatou. A le fetaui, ia toe teuteu.
Many countries and peoples do not have that right –ona ou faafetai a laia i o tatou tuaa, sa latou asaina, ma finau mo le aia tatau lena.
Manuia pea oe Samoa.
Tamai Lupe Fa’alele a Samoa.
