The Samoa Rugby League patron, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi, believes wholeheartedly the Toa Samoa is deserving of $1m tala reward for making Samoa proud with their historic achievement at the Rugby League World Cup.
There should also be a public holiday to mark the Toa Samoa’s unrivaled triumph that has made Samoans at home and everywhere else feel special.
The SRL patron believes there is money already budgeted for Government to easily draw from.
“Funds for the one million tala handouts for each of the 51 electoral constituencies are already in the current budget 2022-2023 and only $200,000 have been paid out, with $800,000 left,” Tuilaepa reminded.
“All Government has to do is take out $20,000 from each of the constituencies and that will make up the million tala easy.
“The $780,000 balance is still more than enough for the constituencies to work with.”
Tuilaepa gave a rare assurance that as leader of the opposition Human Right Protection Party, HRPP, they are ready to stand united with the FAST Government in support of Toa Samoa.
He also made a direct call to acting-PM Leatinu’u and other Cabinet Ministers to come and stand together for the sake of the Toa Samoa.
In his weekly meeting with the local media, Tuilaepa appealed for everyone to wear blue colours at the weekend to show support for the team.
A mass supporters rally for the team is scheduled towards the end of work this afternoon in front of the FMFM II Government building.
