The long awaited ending to by-elections for the Va’a-o-Fonoti, Siumu and Faleata 4, electoral constituencies, is now down to only a few hours left to go.
The only noticeable signs of voters turnout in the heart of Apia today was at the special polling booth at the ‘To’oa Salamasina Building of the Ministry of Women, Savalalo.
Voters were streaming in from the entrances at the front and back of the sprawling building, under strict supervision by officials of the Electoral Commission Office and Police.
Public interest will follow how the three former HRPP opposition candidates who resigned from the party to force the by-elections, will fair in the polling results.
The trio are now running under the flag of the ruling FAST party against strong opposition of former CEOs of two Government Ministries and the general manager of a national bank.
One of the two CEOs is running as an independent for the Faleata 4 seat along with two others in each of the remaining seats.
