The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China came to a successful conclusion on the morning of October 22 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing after electing a new Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and a new Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, and passing the Resolution on the Report of the 19th the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the Resolution on the Work Report of the 19th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the Resolution on the Revised Constitution of the Communist Party of China.
The congress has established that, from this day forward, the central task of the Communist Party of China will be to lead the Chinese people of all ethnic groups in a concerted effort to realize the Second Centenary Goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects and to advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization.

H.E. Xi Jinping, who was elected as General Secretary of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at its first plenary session, met with Chinese and foreign journalists who were covering the 20th CPC National Congress at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on October 23. Along with him were Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi, Ding Xuexiang and Li Xi, also members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee elected at the session.
