The Samoa Sports Lotto forked out around $44,000 to cover first semester fees for 26 students study at the National University Students.

The fees ranged from the lowest of $750 to the highest of $2,000 handed out by the Gambling Control Authority Minister Lautafi Selafi Purcell.

The Samoa Sports Lotto semester tuition scheme is offered to students from families struggling to meet their study costs.

Students must meet strict eligibility criteria that included high course marks to be granted assistance.

The course tuition support is also a ‘one off’ for students who are recipients already of the one semester funding.

The restriction is designed in the scheme to offer support to as many deserving students as possible applying for study grants.

“This assistance is one of the ways in which Government ensures that the proceeds of its Sports Lotto operations such as the Samoa National Lotto, Samoa National Bonus and Samoa National TV Bingo are recycled back for the benefit of our community, through Sports funding assistance and Educational grants such as these as well as other purposes for the benefit of the wider community,” a statement on the assistance explained.

The Board and Management of the Samoa Sports Lotto extended appreciation to the support and patronage of its products which has made the assistance possible.
