Members of the Samoa Red Cross Society participated in the 2026 Pacific Regional First Aid Meeting in Nouméa, New Caledonia, from June 8 to 11, 2026.
The Health & First Aid Coordinator of the Samoa Red Cross Society, Ms. Aiolupotea Goretti Wulf, and her team took part in an intensive week of exchanges, discussions and collaborative workshops.
They were able to explore new tools for first aid education and to work on the financial sustainability of their training model.
The initiative also helped align Pacific Societies around a shared 2030 vision, with the goal of instilling a culture of first aid in all Pacific communities.
The event brought together representatives from the National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies of Fiji, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kiribati, the Solomon Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, the Cook Islands, Papua New Guinea, Australia, and New Zealand.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the Global First Aid Reference Centre (CMRPS/GFARC) also participated in the proceedings.
The French Red Cross organised the meeting with support from France through the Agence française de développement (AFD).
The meeting was part of the French Red Cross’s Preparedness and Response Platform for the Pacific (PIROPS) program, to strengthen the capacities of National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in the Pacific.
The PIROPS program benefits from EUR 2.7 million (approximately WST 8 million) for the region.
