The Samoa Law Society elected a new Council tonight at its annual general meeting.
Alex Su’a is the new President with Faimalomatumua Mathew Lemisio as Vice President.
Ms. Violina Leilua is Secretary with Tanya Lagaaia as Treasurer.
Council members are Ann Matalasi, Precious Chang and Gillian Malielegaoi.
Su’a was Vice-President in the previous Council but had to take up the acting role as President for most of the term.
Su’a Helene Wallwork-Lamb was unable to continue in office as President, after she took up temporary duties as Government Attorney General.
Faimalomatumua is the surprising newcomer into the Council.
He has only recently moved into private legal practice, after being forced to endure a very public ordeal of career changes.
The former Electoral Commissioner resigned to become Deputy President of the Lands and Titles Court.
He was the second highest judge of the Lands and Titles Court before he left after only a short period to start up his own law firm
