The second round of talks has failed to reach an agreement in the HRPP-FAST political stand-off.
Party leaders met this afternoon, Monday 7 June 2021, at PM’s Office but were again unable to agree on a solution.
Details of what transpired are yet to be made public but the question of a return to general elections as a ‘short-cut’ solution remains.
The second option is having to wait on the outcome of court hearings of election petitions and bi-elections that will mean a delay of several months.
There were no indications after today’s failed talks if or when the two sides will get together again.
PM Tuilaepa has already admitted following the first round of talks last Thursday that it may take a few meetings before any decision is reached.
The HRPP is claiming after the Appeals Court ruling that it is unconstitutional for Parliament to be called to session without a 6th woman MP.
