The Supreme Court ruling to void the seat for extra woman Member of Parliament is being appealed.
The appeal was filed today, Monday 17 May 2021, in the court ruling against the Electoral Commissioner and the Alataua i Sisifo elected woman MP Ali’imalemanu Alofa Tu’uau.
The appeal included an application for a stay of execution on the court ruling that was handed down earlier today in the Supreme Court.
Newsline Samoa understands the appeal cites a disagreement in the findings between the 3-member panel of Justices who presided over the matter.
The 2-1 split is reportedly on the legality of the decision by the Electoral Commissioner for the required 10 percent threshold for women members in Parliament under the Constitution.
