The quest for the best golf club in the country tee off this week at the Fagali’i and Tuanaimato Courses.

Both golf courses will be hosting the 2-day event on the 16th and 17th September starting on 14th September 2022.

Last year, golf clubs in Samoa came together for the first time to find the best golf club at the inaugural Taula Samoa IBFC Golf Clubs Championship 2021.

Le Vaiotausala Golf School from Fagali’i emerged as the victor to claim the title of the Top Golf Club in Samoa. Second place was won by Mike’s School with Marist B.I.G Golf Club coming in 3rd

This year, 3 overseas golf clubs and 10 local golf clubs will battle it out at the second instalment of this tournament, now called Taula Samoa IBFC International Golf Clubs Championship.

The inclusion of overseas clubs was a response to the challenge issued by Honourable Seuula Ioane, Minister of Education, Sports & Culture at the launch of last year’s tournament.

His challenge was for the event to be annual and to include overseas teams upon the opening of the boarders.

The overseas teams are Tafesilafai Golf Club and Good Times Golf Club from American Samoa; and Marist Pro-V Golf Club from Auckland, New Zealand.

Aside from vying for the title of Top Golf Club, the winning club will also win $4,000 plus the trophy and medals.

According to the Tournament Director Taupau Carlton Chadwick, “We are splitting the players into 2 groups given the increase in the number of players this year. Each playing group will get to play at Fagali’i and Tuanaimato during the 2 days of the tournament.”

“We praise God for the sponsors, especially the naming rights sponsors Taula and Samoa IBFC. Without them, we would not be able to host this tournament,” says Paulo Stowers, the Captain of Marist B.I.G Golf Club that is hosting the tournament.

Proceeds from the tournament will go towards the Marist Taxi Junior Golf program at Faleata Golf Course.
