The Queensland Reds is heading home ‘Down Under’ waving the Moana Pasifika scalp   after a comfortable 40-28 win on Friday at the Apia Park Stadium.

Super Rugby promoters played up the history making clash as the first held in Samoa for the 2-year old professional tournament.

The fanatical local rugby supporters responded with a healthy turnout to throw their loud cheering behind the Moana Pasifika but in the end the players and the supporters combined effort “..fell short.”

The  Australian side were on a 2-tries runaway lead of 28-14 at the half but even with the loud cheering crowd, the New Zealand based team in South Auckland failed to reel in the scoreline at the final whistle.

The home support did enjoy several big cheering moments when the team crossed the line 4-times.

The loudest went to Samoan star flanker, Miracle Failagi, who slipped over the Queensland line defences for  2-tries. Failagi joined the Moana Pasifika after moving to Auckland to join the team.

The other team try-scorers were Danny Toala and Luteru Toll.

The Moana Pasifika is currently sitting at the bottom of the 12-team tournament having lost all 8 of its matches played so far.
