Police is not revealing the identity of the man who allegedly cheated 20 people in a scam under the seasonal workers scheme.

The man is alleged to have obtained money from people wishing to work to prepare documents such as applications, visas and passports so they could work in Australia and New Zealand under the Seasonal Workers Scheme.

The 20 people reportedly  cheated turned up at the airport last Tuesday to take a scheduled flight but found there was none and so they reported the matter to Police.

More than $10,000 were allegedly paid per person in addition to fees for medical and police reports.

Acting Police Commissioner  Auapaau Logotino Filipo  confirmed to Newsline Samoa that the  identity  of the person could not  be revealed  pending  investigation and he could be charged  for theft  and fraud.

He also confirmed that complaints have been filed against  the accused  but could  not confirm if all 20 people  have lodged complaints.
