PM FIAME NAOMI MATAAFA AT THE BSP CUSTOMER FUNCTION ON THURSDAY, 18 APRIL 2024 @ ROBERT LOUIS MUSEUM
Talofa lava and good evening everyone,
It gives me great pleasure as Prime Minister of Samoa, to address this gathering today, and I extend a warm welcome to the Bank South Pacific Financial Group Ltd Chairman, Mr Robert Bradshaw for his first visit to Samoa and your board members, the Group Chief Executive Officer for BSP, Mark Robinson and your executive team. Your presence here is testament to the significance of our shared undertakings and the vital role BSP and each of its customers and partners play in shaping our nation’s progress and future.
BSP’s offers to support the 2024 Commonwealth Business Forum is most welcomed and much appreciated. Chairman Bradshaw.
BSP has a strong record of community engagement and support in Samoa, championing causes such as education, environment, youth empowerment, financial literacy, and small business support.
It gives me great joy to see the strong support we have from the Pacific wide business community, as we prepare to welcome the Commonwealth to our region for the first time.
The Commonwealth Business Forum celebrates the unique importance of the Commonwealth as an institution that helps boost trade and prosperity.
It also provides an opportunity for high-level dialogue between businesses and Government leaders from the Commonwealth and beyond to develop stronger partnerships and connections, exchange knowledge, and contribute to impactful discussions on promoting sustainable growth across the world.
In the upcoming Commonwealth Business Forum, leaders will discuss global economic, environmental, and security challenges, and focus on ways to enhance resilience, boost trade, innovation, growth, and empower the Commonwealth’s 1.5 billion young people to build a more peaceful and sustainable future.
I was pleased to hear Chairman Bradshaw speak this evening about BSP’s commitment to the environment and sustainability. This topic is dear to my heart and resonates with right now, as we strive to build a more resilient future.
In this journey, business leaders and the private sector have a key role to play.

I wish this gathering a joyous and successful evening tonight. Faafetai
