….this overturned police vehicle killed three support staff of the Ministry of Police at the Tiavi Cross Island Road.
The tragedy raised the question in Parliament during the recent budget debate of life insurance for workers who die in the line of duty.
There was an added suggestion of a 2 years pay off in lieu of life insurance.
The money is for the care family of the deceased to see them through the difficult times in the sudden passing of their main income provider.
The Minister of Police was sympathetic and he agrees with it too.
But first the question of all other Government workers who died in the line of duty have to be sorted out first.
The best he could do for now is to promise to look into the options and see what the best ones are.
The Minister has the support of the Opposition leader who understands the problem well as a former Minister of Police himself.
