….this was the scene 6 years ago on the tar sealed ground next to the Police headquarters in Apia. Illegal guns collected over the years from police raids and other criminal investigations were lined up on the hard ground for a heavy road machinery to run over and destroyed.
This was during the former Police Commissioner Egon Keil’s time in office.
How soon will we get to see something like this again? First we have just had a new Police Commissioner appointed after a long break since Commish Keil resigned.
Commissioner Auappau Filipo Logoitino has taken over. The man has been a law enforement officer for 23 years. He is no rookie, that is for sure.
The recent challenges have been the illegal drug meth or ice. But then illegal drugs and guns go together so let’s wait and see.
