…..when a good ‘siva Samoa’ song comes along and the ladies are around, it doesn’t matter whether they brought their dancing shoes or not.
All it takes is the beat of right music rushing into the ears and those swaying arms and gliding feet are off – sorry brain, we just want to dance.
Perfectly normal.
Our ladies danced the ‘siva’ since they were able to stand and walk. It’s a cultural thing that comes natural wherever and whenever the mood swings in.
In this case it was at a protest march at the Tiafau Malae last Monday night.
The ground is as cultural as it’ll ever be and for the ladies that means the ‘siva.’ Forgotten for a brief moment the shameful acts of physical abuse they were threatened with on the same ground they were dancing on .
The dancing gave them a moment to shut out the degrading image portrayed by the few men who showed very little regard for the rights of women.
Apologies ladies.
