It was amusing to see the Chairman of the Samoa National Provident Fund react to my letter to the Editor and jump to the defense of the Faatuatua i le Atua Samoa ua Tasi Party Chairman La’auli Leuatea Schmidt’s decision to accept a $200,000 tālā cash contribution from a church group that is heavily in debt to the Fund.

Another $200,000 tālā is in the wind!

No one asked the Chairman for his opinion.

It makes one wonder why the SNPF Chair is so keen to defend the FAST Chair.

Is it because he is also party to the plot to overthrow the Prime Minister with the help of the loan?

My letter to the Editor on the topic, was about the lack of ethics in accepting the $200,000 tālā gift while the church still owed $13 million tālā to the Samoan taxpayer and SNPF contributors.

Or is it to do with an attempt to defend questionable investment decisions like the private hospital or the Sheraton Mulifanua Beach Resort?

What’s also troubling is the deafening silence of the Minister in charge of SNPF, who has failed to address these growing concerns.

This Samoan version of musical chairs is becoming more intriguing by the day.

It seems the SNPF Chairman should focus less on defending the FAST Chairman’s business and more on ensuring the integrity of the Fund.

Let’s see what happens when the music stops.
