The arrival of a mysterious private jet at Faleolo International Airport has raised questions yet again about what and who is crossing our borders.
Initial media reports indicated that neither the airport authority nor Samoa Airways knew anything about the plane.
How could they not know? Why the secrecy?

It wasn’t too long ago that the same questions were raised about other pleasure crafts and charter flights that crossed our borders.
To date, no information has been shared about what goods or people entered Samoa on those occasions.
With methamphetamine and illegal firearms pouring into Samoa and illicit cash flows and human trafficking happening daily all over the world, the public is justified in demanding full transparency about these border crossings.
It doesn’t help public confidence when there is always contradicting stories about the clearances of these vessels.
The self-proclaimed owner of the airport needs to come forward and clarify what and who arrived on every mysterious aircraft.
If there is nothing illegal happening, then there should be no problem sharing this kind of information with the nation!
As the caretaker minister, he is still accountable and responsible for the safety and welfare of the nation.
With this latest case, it is becoming impossible to tell the difference between a FAST and SUP government.
