Repair work on the damaged NUS Lepapaigalagala campus wall is all done up except for the paintwork.
Once the new cement is under the paintbrush the protective wall running from the main road to the Campus gates will appear new again.
A student’s car rammed the solid cement and steel bars wall about three weeks ago around the beginning of April.
The student driver and one other suffered head injuries from damages estimated at $3,000.
The protective structure runs a winding uphill path for about 400 meters right up to the main Campus gate .
The project has been underway since late last year and runs parallel to the To’omatagi Road, starting from main road at Vaivase.
“The safety and security of the campus is at the point where the protection of a solid wall is a must,”NUS Planning and Maintenance Director, Tuala Amerika described at the time construction was underway.
Tuala highlighted the risks from increasing traffic and the growing number of people in the area.
