STILL PM  : PM Fiame in Parliament this morning where the vote of no confidence against her leadership was denied

By Staff Writer

The Prime Minister, Fiame Naomi Mataafa, has survived the no confidence vote against her leadership, taken this morning in Parliament .

Members rejected the motion by the Opposition leader, Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi by a convincing 34 votes against 15 in support.

The motion claims that the loyalty split in the ruling FAST party between PM Fiame and Chairman Laauli violates the Constitutional rule of the majority.

Both the PM and Laauli admitted the irreconcilable split in the party  but set aside their differences to stay on in Parliament to deny the motion of no confidence by the opposition leader.

While Laauli claims to have the majority of the party caucus behind him it remains unclear what lies ahead with the PM’s minority leadership, following today’s vote.
