The newly constructed hall for Lepa and Lotofaga College is giving an educational boost in the two electoral constituencies after the official hand over last weekend on Friday, 14 October 2022.
The College provides learning for children in eight villages: namely Lalomanu, Saleapaga, Aufaga, Vavau, Matatufu, Sapoe, Lepa and Lotofaga.
The hall will be used for school events as well as community related activities to benefit 300 students with parents and teachers.
The project was largely funded by a grant of SAT505,000 (approximately USD196,208) through Japan’s Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP).
The overall hopes of the school hall are to become a symbol of pride and encouragement for the students learning.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Samoa, H.E. Mr. SENTA Keisuke handed over the new hall building to the School Committee in the presence of the Hon. Minister of Education, Sports and Culture, Seuula Ioane, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture and distinguished guests.
The GGP is a vital component of the Japan’s overall Official Development Assistance which contributes towards national development objectives of Samoa, as a way of bringing direct benefits to people at the grass-roots level.
As a long-standing supporter of education, Japan has continuously assisted in the sector and the new project for Lepa Lotofaga College is an added milestone in Japan’s ongoing support and cooperation towards the social and economic developments of Samoa.
