Saoleititi Ms. Maeva Betham-Vaai is the new Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Treasury.
The Ministry has been without a boss from around the middle of last year 2021.
The Prime Minister Fiame Naomi Mataafa officially confirmed her appointment today, Thursday 17 March 2022, following a decision in Cabinet during their weekly meeting yesterday on Wednesday.
Saoleititi started her working career as a young officer with the Ministry of Treasury where she served for 17 years from 1992 – 2009.
She left while at the assistant CEO level to join World Bank in 2009.
She became the first Liaison Officer for the Joint World Bank Group and Asian Development Bank Liaison Office established in Samoa until by 2016 she was solely responsible for the World Bank Group.
Saoleititi is the only newly appointed CEO out of the four new heads of Ministries confirmed by Cabinet this week.
The Ministry of the Prime Minister and Cabinet CEO Agafili Shem Leo stays on for another 3 years with a contract extension.
CEO contracts for Tevaga Viane Tagiilima of UTOS and Ms. Elita To’oala as head of the Ministry of Public Enterprises were also renewed for another three-year terms.
