A full facelift is promised for the national monument on the founding of Samoa as an independent sovereign nation infront of the old Lands and Titles Court Office at Mulinu’u.
The plan is to give it the respect and attention it deserves so it will stand out for people to enjoy as an attraction to be proud of.
“First we will have to take down the old Lands and Titles Court Office building and then turn the whole area into a small park for people to enjoy,” the Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi disclosed.
The caretaker leader announced the plans at the official opening of the new Office of the Electoral Commission next to the monument.
Decorative lights installed to make the structure stand out more are to be included in the planned attraction.
“The old building will be pulled down and the whole areas landscaped so the public can come in and enjoy the place.
“Families can come in and park in the area so they can enjoy out for everyone.”
The national motto ‘ Fa’avae ile Atua Samoa’ or ‘Samoa is Founded On God’ is inscribed largely on the face of the monument seen from the road.
