So it is the court and not the Head of State that will decide if we can call or not fresh elections at this point of our political hold up.
Worth noting for future reference but lets leave that there.
We have made it this far since this political mess we are in started we can surely hang on a little bit more.
No point asking for how long though. We will just have to wait. Pray. Wait. Pray……
Just wished these outside non-voting, non-citizens of Samoa stops mouthing off on political matters that are none of their concern.
Take this Mike Field character spouting off about Samoa shutting down the social media for general elections.
What is it to him? If we in Samoa wants to shut down FACEBOOK that is our sovereign right.
Butt out and go chase a dog or chicken to report on.
Then there is this New Zealand legal academic with degrees coming out of his nose and ears, loud mouthing that we do not know our own laws like he does.
He has called unconstitutional the legal decisions firstly by the Electoral Commissioner and recently the Head of State.
Thank you kindly sir! Would you like to come and educate our Judiciary with your legal brilliance?
Maybe you can also help the CJ re-assure the public that our Samoan judges of the court have sworn an oath of impartiality.
Surely you have sworn a similar oath too.
What about this lawyer lady who petitioned the New Zealand Government to review our General Elections?
Thank you madam Attorney General for making us understand the legal gibberish of New Zealand meddling in the affairs of our sovereign nation.
Thank you to the Government of New Zealand as well for making that very clear to the learned petitioner.
How come this lawyer lady did not know that? Maybe she did but like that other New Zealand legal academic she thought Samoans did not know the law.
In their defence maybe they are trying to reach out a helping hand at our time of political need.
Thank you if that is true. But the best support you can offer our political problems now is to wish speedy solutions for us in Samoa.
We cannot continue week after week not knowing whether to sit, sleep, walk or go to the bathroom.
The calling of fresh general elections, with all good intentions, would have shut out all the political mumbo jumbo that has left us dangling in a political tangle.
Matters of the court pertain to justice. Choices of political leadership are for the voters to decide.
Maybe it is worth having that debate after the court has delivered its ruling on whether we should return to the polls or not.
Must, however, salute the Head of State for stepping in.
Fa’afetai tele i lau afioga ile Tama-Aiga.
Samoa desperately needed Your Highness at this difficult time and your fatherly presence and wish to maintain peace and harmony is truly felt.
Our general election has created divisions and uncertainties in our stable country and you provided a settling voice of reason.
Your Highness spoke “as a father, brother and son” to help bring calm to our proud but now very divided nation.
True leaders stand out at times like this.
You sir have honoured your Tama- Aiga’ forbears with your inherited leadership and depth when Samoa needed it most.
If Samoa is founded on God then lets all keep the faith.
Lord you know how special and dear we hold our mothers who are celebrating their special day today. Please bless our mothers
Thank you of course for your mercy on us all Lord.
