After only a few weeks of warm up to our 2021 General Elections the tone of campaigning has turned angry. If it continues on this note it will become ugly and yucky.

Angry words floated out after the nomination of candidates closed last Friday.

Political newcomer, FAST, attacked the HRPP Government for dirty politics. PM Tuilaepa retaliated by calling the party leaders crooks and liars.

Hey guys what happened to the sweet, heartfelt talk to suck in the voters/electors?

Are we now into ‘anything goes’?

Does that mean no more of this silly, moral, nonsense the Americans in the last Presidential elections came out with: “ If they go high we go low.”   Incidentally, the candidate who said that lost.

We have 20 court petitions lined up for the Supreme Court to rule on in the next 20 working days starting tomorrow, Monday.

Accusing fingers are going to be pointing everywhere.  Political venom is going to overflow into more claims of dirty politics, liars, crooks and more outbursts of rage.

Thank goodness the mud they throw around are not viruses. Why worry about the coronavirus when we have these angry ones flying all over the place to spatter the masses?

The bad fighting words we are hearing so far are coming from FAST and the HRPP leaders.

Tautua has been the steady one going about their own business like dressing up their candidates to look respectable in their green and white colours.

Why are they keeping the peace and these other two are mudslinging this early in the race?

If they are bashing each other with angry words surely the overriding psychology must be anger or rage or fury or whatever sums up the mindset better.

If you trace back to a likely source of all this bitterness and hostility, it started with FAST leader MP La’auli walking out of Parliament after a verbal whipping by members that resounded inside the House.

MP Faumuina followed shortly after when he was reportedly sacked from the HRPP.

Fiame then dropped the big one when she called it quits.  The former deputy PM has the smarts and the maturity to stay an independent for now in Parliament until she is cleared to join the coalition party.

Obviously these unhappy MPs did not hold long hugs with tears streaming down their faces when they left the HRPP to form FAST.

A thermometer would not have lied if a temperature reading was taken at the time each of these individuals made their exits from the ruling party.    Body heat would have melted the poor thing.

Now what?  Folks, if angry rhetoric turns you on give your ears a good long wash to enjoy this ‘no holds bar’  exchange.  If your hearing aid is acting up go fix it or buy a new one.

For those who throw up at all the sniveling and the whining, buy an earplug.  While you are at it get a facemask as well to prevent from any virus infection – you can never tell what comes out of these angry peoples’ mouths.

Today when you pray in church, ask the Lord to close the worlds’ ears, eyes and noses to the stench of shame these politicians are going to put Samoa through, if not already.

Some of these political parties have set up online websites to push their political messages of dirty politics, liars and crooks in Samoa.  The more people in the world they can convince the better it will be if they get to win power to run the country.

Folks please ask the Lord to tell our donor partners that Samoa is a paradise and all the low life talking coming out of these political campaign rhetoric are just angry words from angry politicians.

It would do some good too if you can ask the Lord to tell his servants to stick to the work of divine faith.   Some of his senior servants are saying the church should be involved in politics.

Ask the Lord for a sign that the faithful should now go against His word and give to Caesar what should be given to God and to God what Caesar should get.

Whatever the outcome of the election polls in 2021, lets hope that the leadership image of Samoa in the region and with world leaders will not crash in shame at being dragged in the mud.

We have worked too long and too hard to earn the respect we deserve to be ruined by dirty politics, crooks and liars.

The decision to save our proud image as a nation is ours as voters.  If politicians are dirty liars and crooks give them the boot – the harder the better – if possible beyond the horizon and out of sight.

How do you know who these politicians are? You won’t.   But the Lord has a tip you may want to keep in mind ….

“Many false prophets will come and cause many people to believe lies. There will be more and more evil in the world, so most people will stop showing their love for each other. But those people who keep their faith until the end will be saved. “ Matthew 24:4-27.

Thank you Lord for the tip. Enjoy your rest day.
