The final session of Parliament is next week on Tuesday 19 January 2021 before it is dissolved in preparations for the general elections.
Members are expected to take to the floor for the last time to debate and make use of the opportunity to make their final goodbyes.
“The Supplementary Budget will be the main item to be tabled for the House to debate during the session,” Clerk of the Legislative Assembly Tiatia Graeme Tualaulelei explained.
There are new bills expected to be tabled as well as for members to debate.
Tiatia expects the session to run for more than a week unless it continues into the afternoons and nights.
Members normally set aside time when they address the budget to also make their final goodbyes in the House and also to their respective electoral constituencies.
Parliament sittings are for 5 years before it is dissolved for new elections to elect new members who will form the new Government.
The Government in place when Parliament is dissolved remains in a caretaker role until a new one is sworn in after the general elections.
