Friday’s flash flood caught many of us by surprise.   Not a happy surprise, unfortunately!

Getting caught up in an overflow of dirty waters is not pleasant.

Having your family removed to an evacuation centre to allow for a mud cleanup at home is a pain.

Even if it was a deserving a wake up call to fix up the place it still is a pain.

This is Christmas week and the sooner we admit to our shortcomings the easier it is to start building a healthy cheer before the Holy Birth this Friday.

Key words to zero into are clean up and healthy cheer.

We still have a few days left to look into our inner self and give it a good scrubbing.

Drown any hang-ups you have about the controversial LTC amendments becoming law after a prolonged battle.

If it has not killed you yet then be grateful that you have lived to fight another day.   Christmas and New Year are not those days.

It is not a time to hold on to any lingering anger.  Go heavy on the Rinso or some other washing detergent to drown all that aggravation and then rinsed it clean,

You are doing your health a huge favour by doing so.  Of course it is easily said than done if you had high hopes the Constitution will not be amended for the LTC.

The ‘fact of the matter’, as they would say, is the die is cast or the coin is flipped and the situation has become ‘it is what it is’.

The sooner you can exorcise your demons the easier it is to cool down the consuming heat of the fires of hell raging in your inner self.

No need to pay an expensive head doctor to tell you that.

Simple common sense really.

As soon as your temperature is down to human level, reach out and drag the spirit of the festive season by its tail to rub cheer into your heart.

The choice is really yours to make.  You also have time in the few days left to make that choice but only if you want to.

If you are worried that your choice of new Government ends up the same way as your LTC amendment hopes then you are letting yourself dwell in hell.

Jesus is born this Friday and the next Friday is New Year.  The general election is not until April 2021.

Why torment your poor self when there is a time and place for everything?  There is a lot of sense in that.

Faith is the foundation of our Christian beliefs in the miracle of the birth of Jesus as our Saviour.

If you do not have a Christian faith then it is not a problem.  If you do and you let your devilish temperament ruin this sacred moment then it is on you.

If miracles are about achieving the impossible with divine power, you could be missing out.

What if your choice of Government is granted with your political party winning the general elections?  Would that be a miracle or not for you?

It would if your political party went to the election polls with the chances of a ‘snowball in hell’ of winning.

Stop to imagine what it would be like if on top of your LTC loss your political party fails to form a new Government in 2021!  Blazing inferno!

The general consensus for Christmas is peace, love and joy for mankind.

The moment is cherished, as family love blends in well, with the arrival of a newborn baby.

Even for the few short days left surely we can leave aside all our self-induced aggravation and prepare our hearts to celebrate the spirit of Christmas.

At Newsline Samoa we leave you with this quote from Lailah Gifty Akita, an inspirational writer from Ghana :

“We tend to think of Christmas as a date or a season. It is somehow true, but to think more carefully: can a season become Christmas without Christmas spirit in the air?

That is why the heart of Christmas lies in the state of mind of everyone. We wait and embrace a special time and special season in the year with peace and goodwill. That is what makes a Christmas.”

MERRY CHRISTMAS SAMOA
