The Tuanaimato Weightlifting Gymnasium has become an ear battering hive of clanging heavy metal weights, dropped on sturdy wooden platforms on the hard cement.
The volume and pace have picked up noticeably this week at the start of an elite training programme for the best lifters in Samoa and from the Oceania region.
These are the top lifters in this part of the Commonwealth region making a start on their build up to major scheduled international tournaments in a few months time

The World Weightlifting Cup Championship in Samoa is next year in April.
The Commonwealth Games are in Glasow, Scotland next July.
President of the Samoa Weightlifting Association, Tuaopepe Jerry Walwork and Mr. Paul Coffa, General Secretary for the Commonwealth and Oceania Weightlifting, are the key people behind the special training.
Paul Coffa who is an icon in weightlifting and no stranger to the sport in Samoa, underlined the value of the training underway in Samoa to Newsline Samoa Online.
